Connect a wallet (optional)
For crypto communities only — link a Solana wallet to get holder roles. Completely optional and safe.
This page only matters if your community uses crypto features. Most servers don't. If nobody has asked you to connect a wallet, you can skip this entirely and use everything else HoneyGate offers.
Some communities are built around a token or an NFT collection, and they use HoneyGate to give special roles to people who hold them — for example, "holds our token → Holder role." To get those roles, you link your Solana wallet so HoneyGate can confirm what you hold. Here's how it works and why it's safe.
It's safe by design
The most important thing to know: you never give HoneyGate access to your funds.
- You prove you own your wallet by signing a simple message — the same way you log in to other Solana apps.
- Signing this message does not move anything and does not approve any transaction. It just proves the wallet is yours.
- HoneyGate only ever reads your public wallet address (which is public anyway). It never sees your private key or seed phrase, and it can't spend anything.
If any site ever asks for your seed phrase, that's a scam — HoneyGate (and every legitimate app) will only ever ask you to sign, never to type in a seed phrase.
How to connect
- In the server, run
/verify. HoneyGate sends you a private link. - Open the link. Your browser wallet (Phantom, Solflare, Backpack, and others) will pop up.
- Click Sign to prove the wallet is yours.
- Done — HoneyGate checks what you hold and gives you any roles you qualify for.
You only have to do this once. Your verified wallet works across every HoneyGate server, so if a new community uses it too, you're already set.
Using a hardware wallet (Ledger)
Hardware wallets can't sign a plain message, so instead you'll be asked to approve a tiny proof transaction. It is never sent to the network — it only proves you own the wallet, and nothing leaves it.
Your wallet or device may show some extra warnings — these are expected and safe:
- "New domain" — your wallet just hasn't seen this site before.
- "Blind signing" — a normal Ledger setting for Solana; turn it on in the device's Solana app if it asks.
- "Couldn't simulate / may be unsafe" — this usually just means the wallet you're verifying has almost no SOL, so your wallet can't preview the proof transaction. It's still safe (it's never sent). Verifying a wallet that holds a little SOL avoids this warning.
One tip: if you have more than one wallet extension installed (e.g. Backpack and Phantom) and the wrong one keeps opening, disable the one you don't want for the verification — some wallets grab the connection even when you pick another.
Holding more than one wallet
You can link more than one wallet if you keep your holdings spread across a few — up to 10, the same on every plan. It's one shared list: verify a wallet once and it works on every HoneyGate server you're in. Manage them any time on the Wallets page of your member portal.
Seeing your NFTs and roles
Once you're verified:
- The NFTs page of your portal shows the NFTs you hold that the server cares about.
- The Wallets page shows which holder roles you qualify for, with a tick or cross for each.
If a role doesn't appear
Holder roles update when HoneyGate re-checks your wallet. If you just bought or moved something and the role hasn't caught up, give it a little time or re-run /verify. Still stuck? Your server's staff can help, and the FAQ covers the common causes.
