Common fixes
Quick answers to the questions and small snags that come up most often.
A grab-bag of quick answers to the things people ask most. If yours isn't here, the HoneyBot chat bubble can help.
HoneyGate's slash commands aren't showing up
When you type / and don't see HoneyGate's commands, it's usually one of:
- Give it a few minutes. Right after the bot joins, Discord can take a little while to list its commands.
- Another bot is crowding the list. If you run several bots, Discord's autocomplete can bury newer commands — scroll, or type more of the command name.
- Try again after a refresh. Restarting your Discord app often makes new commands appear.
A setting I changed didn't seem to take effect
- Check the server picker. The admin panel applies changes to whichever server is selected at the top. If you have more than one, make sure the right one is chosen.
- Make sure the feature is turned on. Each feature has an on/off switch in the panel.
The welcome message / announcement didn't post
- Confirm HoneyGate can see and send messages in that channel (check the channel's permissions).
- Confirm you picked the right channel in that feature's settings.
A member's level, XP, or points look wrong
- XP is per server — a member's XP in one community doesn't carry into another.
- Points are network-wide — those follow the member everywhere.
- It can take a moment for activity to register. If something still looks off after a while, let support know.
I want to give a teammate access to the admin panel
The Members area of the admin panel lets the server owner grant trusted people permission to help manage HoneyGate, without handing over full ownership.
How do I turn a feature off?
Open the feature in the admin panel and switch it off, or disable the whole module. Turning something off doesn't delete your settings — they're kept if you turn it back on later.
Roles aren't being handed out
That has its own page — see My role didn't apply. Nine times out of ten it's the role hierarchy.
