Starboard
Automatically collect your community's best messages into one or more highlights channels. (Pro)
A starboard is a "best of" channel. When a message picks up enough of a chosen reaction, HoneyGate reposts it to a highlights channel. It's an automatic hall of fame that runs itself.
What it does
Members react to a great message with your chosen emoji (⭐ by default). Once it hits your threshold, HoneyGate copies it to the starboard channel with the author, the message text and image, and a jump link back to the original. If the message was a reply, the repost shows a little "Replying to…" line so the joke still lands.
Run more than one board
You can run up to six boards at once: the main one plus five extras. For example:
- ⭐ feeds #highlights at 3 reactions,
- 🏆 feeds #staff-picks at 8 reactions.
Each board has its own emoji, its own reaction count, and its own channel. Your filters (excluded channels, roles, NSFW, and so on) apply to every board. Add extra boards from the Extra starboards section of the Starboard admin page.
Setting it up
In the admin panel, open Starboard and set:
- The starboard channel (where highlights are posted).
- The emoji to count and the threshold (how many reactions are needed).
- Options: cover threads inside those channels as well. It's paid once per message, even if it lands on two boards.
- Allow self-stars or not (off by default, so an author's own reaction doesn't count).
- Remove from the board if reactions drop back below the threshold.
- Media only (images/video), which keeps it to visual highlights.
- Skip NSFW channels (threads inside an NSFW channel are covered too).
- Only these channels, an allowlist: when set, only those channels feed the board.
- Exclude certain channels or authors with certain roles. Channel rules
- (Optional) award the original author some XP when they make the board.
The board stays honest
- Reactions tick up or down, and the count on the repost updates live.
- The original message is edited, and the repost updates to match.
- The original message is deleted, and the repost is removed.
- A moderator clears the reactions, which is treated as dropping to zero.
Member experience
Nothing to learn. Members just react as normal. Two slash commands are available to everyone:
/starboard topshows the most-starred members in the server./starboard postsshows this week's most-starred posts, with jump links.
Tips
- Start the threshold a little higher than you think; you can always lower it.
- A small XP reward for getting starred encourages great posts.
- Give a second board a rarer emoji and a higher threshold. It becomes the "best of the best" channel.
