Embed builder
Design clean, branded message boxes with a live preview, then post them anywhere and update them in place later.
An "embed" is the tidy, formatted message box that bots post instead of plain text, with a coloured side bar, a title, and fields. The embed builder is how you design them.
Basic vs full
- Basic embed builder (Free) lets you pick from preset templates and fill in the text and colour. It's quick and clean for simple announcements.
- Full embed builder (Pro) gives you control over every part of the message, with a live preview that shows your embed exactly as Discord will render it, updating as you type.
What the full builder can do
- Every embed part. Title (optionally a clickable link), description with Discord markdown, up to 25 fields (side-by-side or full-width), accent colour, a large image, a thumbnail, an author line with icon, a footer with icon, and a timestamp.
- Message text above the embed. A plain line of text over the box. This is where an @everyone goes, if you want one.
- Link buttons. Up to 25 clickable buttons under the message, five per row, each with a label, a link, and an optional emoji. Perfect for a "Visit website" button or your socials.
- Update posted messages in place. Every embed you post from the panel is remembered. Spot a typo later? Fix the template and push it into the live message. No reposting, and reactions on the message survive. For older bot messages, right-click the message in Discord, choose Copy Message Link, and paste it in. This only works on messages HoneyGate itself posted.
- Starter designs. Begin from a ready-made announcement, welcome & rules, event, links hub, or FAQ layout, then make it yours.
- Fill-in-the-blanks. Type
{server_name}or{member_count}anywhere in the text and HoneyGate fills in the real values every time it posts. - Saved templates. Build once, post to any channel with one click, and duplicate a template to use it as a starting point.
Pings are off by default
If your message text contains @everyone, @here, or a role mention, HoneyGate posts it without pinging anyone. The text shows, but no notifications go out. To genuinely notify people, tick "Allow pings from this message" on the template. That way a pasted @everyone can never blast your server by accident.
Setting it up
Open the embed builder in the admin panel, design your embed while watching the preview on the right, save it as a template, then choose the channel and post it. The preview also counts your characters. Discord rejects embeds over 6,000 characters, and the builder warns you before you get there.
Where embeds show up
Many features use embeds automatically: welcomes, announcements, role panels, giveaways. The embed builder is for the standalone posts you want to craft yourself, like rules, info boards, FAQs, and links.
Tips
- Keep a consistent accent colour across your embeds for a branded look.
- Use the "Posted embeds" list instead of reposting. Your members keep their reactions and nobody gets a duplicate message.
- Inline fields sit up to three side by side, great for When / Where / Who rows.
