Points & XP
Reward members for being active. It's the foundation for levels, leaderboards, and your shop.
XP rewards members for taking part: chatting, joining voice, reacting. Everything else builds on it. Levels, leaderboards, quests, and your shop all draw from XP, and it's free.
What members earn XP for
You control the rates in the admin panel under XP:
- Messages set the XP per message, a minimum message length so one-character spam doesn't count, and a cooldown between XP-earning messages. That cooldown is server-wide per member, so chatting across many channels can't farm XP.
- Voice pays XP per minute, but only while a member is actively in voice. Muted or deafened members don't earn, and your server's AFK channel never earns, so nobody can farm XP by parking there overnight.
- Reactions can carry an optional small bonus for reacting, for receiving a reaction, or both.
You can also limit XP to certain channels with an allowlist, or exclude some with a blocklist. It's handy for keeping bot-spam and off-topic channels out of the count.
Role XP boosts & no-XP roles
- Role multipliers give a role bonus XP. Set your Server Booster or VIP role to
2for double XP. If a member has several boosted roles, the highest multiplier applies. They don't stack. The range is 0.1 to 10. - No-XP roles earn no XP at all. This is handy for a muted or timeout role, or for bot accounts you've given a role. Members keep the XP they already have. They just stop earning more while they hold the role.
Both apply to message and voice XP. Unlike MEE6, HoneyGate doesn't paywall role multipliers.
Optional: XP decay
Turn on decay and inactive members slowly lose XP over time. You set a grace period and a floor, a minimum they never drop below. It's off by default, and most servers leave it that way.
Two kinds of reward
The difference is worth knowing, because your members will ask:
- XP is per server and drives the levels on your server.
- Network Points are network-wide, shared across every HoneyGate server, and act as a reputation score. Members earn them from game wins and from joining servers. That part runs automatically and isn't something you configure.
Share the member-facing Earn XP & Network Points page with your community if you want a ready-made explanation.
Member experience
Earning is automatic, with nothing to claim. Members check their standing with /xp rank, a private picture rank card showing their rank, level, progress bar, and message and voice stats. They can add a member to peek at someone else's card. The public /xp top leaderboard shows each member's level and tells the person who asked where they sit. It all shows on their portal as well, where the leaderboard gains a Level column whenever Leveling is on.
If your server goes quiet
Brand-new servers sometimes stall. The bot's installed, but nobody's chatting yet. If HoneyGate sees no members earning XP in your first week, it sends you, the server owner, a friendly DM at the 3-day and 7-day marks with a quick 2-minute fix, so a slow start doesn't quietly turn into a dead server. You get each nudge once at most, and active servers never get it. Prefer not to hear from us? A Quiet-server check-in toggle on the XP admin page switches it off.
Your weekly recap
When your server is active, HoneyGate does the opposite. Once a week it DMs you a short progress recap: total XP your community earned, how many members were active, and the week's top members. It's a nice reminder of the momentum you're building, and it only sends on weeks people actually earned XP. A Weekly progress recap toggle on the XP admin page turns it off if you'd rather.
Tips
- Sensible defaults are already set, so you can launch XP without changing a thing.
- Turn on Leveling (Free) to turn XP into levels with automatic role rewards.
