How to migrate

HoneyGate can pull your entire server's MEE6 XP history automatically. Your members don't start from zero.

MEE6 → HoneyGate 5 steps

Estimated time: 5–10 minutes. Works for servers of any size. Requires your MEE6 leaderboard to be set to public (the default) — see the note below if yours is private.

  1. Add HoneyGate and open the admin panel Click “Add to Discord” on this page. After authorizing, HoneyGate runs a permission health check automatically. The most common issue is role hierarchy — if flagged, drag the HoneyGate role above the roles it needs to assign in your Discord server settings, then re-run the check.
  2. Import your MEE6 XP In the HoneyGate admin panel, go to Points & XP → Import and choose “Import from MEE6.” HoneyGate reads your server's public MEE6 leaderboard page-by-page and maps each member's XP and level into HoneyGate's system. For large servers (1,000+ members) this takes 1–2 minutes. You'll see a progress bar and a summary when it completes.
  3. Set up your role rewards Go to Points & XP → Role Rewards. Recreate the level thresholds and Discord roles from your MEE6 setup. Members who already hold the role keep it — HoneyGate only assigns or removes roles it was configured to manage, so existing MEE6-granted roles are safe.
  4. Send a test level-up Use the “Send a test level-up” button on the Leveling page to fire a real level-up for your own account. Verify the announcement appears in the right channel and the role gets assigned correctly before you remove MEE6.
  5. Remove MEE6 Once the test fires correctly and your role rewards are mapped, kick MEE6 from your server. HoneyGate takes over immediately — there's no gap in XP tracking because HoneyGate was already recording activity from the moment you added it.

About the XP import

How the MEE6 import actually works — so you know what to expect.

What data transfers? Member Discord ID, XP total, and current level. HoneyGate maps each member's MEE6 XP to the closest equivalent in HoneyGate's leveling curve. The leaderboard order will be the same; the exact XP number may differ slightly because MEE6 and HoneyGate use different XP formulas internally.

My MEE6 leaderboard is set to private. Will the import work? The import reads MEE6's public leaderboard API. If your leaderboard is set to private in the MEE6 dashboard, HoneyGate won't be able to read it. To import: temporarily set your leaderboard to public in MEE6's plugin settings, run the import, then switch it back. The import completes in seconds for most servers.

Can I run both bots during the transition? Yes. Running MEE6 and HoneyGate side-by-side during the transition is fine. HoneyGate tracks XP independently from the moment it joins. Remove MEE6 only after your test level-up passes and you're confident the migration is complete.

What happens to members who aren't on the MEE6 leaderboard? Members with no MEE6 activity (or members whose account is no longer in your server) are simply skipped. They start at 0 XP in HoneyGate. Active members in your server who did have MEE6 XP will import correctly.
